This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. 1 John 5:14-15(NASB).
God is a God of new beginnings and the changing of the calendar to a New Year is a great time to begin some new practices and habits that will improve our lives in the coming year. It's also a time to develop some habits that will enable your church to be healthier in the coming year. As you spend time daily with the Lord in prayer, please consider praying the following things for your church:
1. Pray for God to be glorified through your church.
Glory to God, who is able to do far beyond all that we could ask or imagine by his power at work within us; glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus for all generations, forever and always. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21 (CEB)
2. Pray for more workers to be involved in the ministry of the church.
He said to them, “The harvest is bigger than you can imagine, but there are few workers. Therefore, plead with the Lord of the harvest to send out workers for his harvest." Luke 10:2 (CEB)
3. Pray for unity in the body
“I’m not praying only for them but also for those who believe in me because of their word. I pray they will be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. I pray that they also will be in us, so that the world will believe that you sent me." John 17:20-21 (CEB)
4. Pray for renewal and revival in the church.
If my people who belong to me will humbly pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. From now on my eyes will be open and my ears will pay attention to the prayers offered in this place. 2 Chronicles 7:14-15 (CEB)
5. Pray for opportunities to share the gospel from our neighborhood to the nations.
Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. Pray for us, too, that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ. Colossians 4:2-3 (NLT)
6. Pray for spiritual growth of the members of your church.
So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. Colossians 1:9-10 (NLT)
7. Pray that God will provide all of the resources needed for your church to fulfill their ministry.
My God will meet your every need out of his riches in the glory that is found in Christ Jesus. Let glory be given to God our Father forever and always. Amen. Philippians 4:19-20 (CEB)
